Innisfil, ON – Innisfil Transit users can now use Driverseat as a new, exciting additional option to request an accessible ride. Residents who request a wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV) using the service will enjoy the same affordable Innisfil Transit rates and door-to-door service thanks to a partnership between the Town of Innisfil and Driverseat.

“We’re fortunate to have a flexible transit system that we can continue to adapt to meet the needs of residents,” said Mayor Lynn Dollin. “During the pandemic and beyond, it’s important that everyone can access transit to get to the critical services they rely on.”

“Driverseat is glad to have come together with the Town of Innisfil to bring another accessible transit option to residents,” said Matt Stovold, President of Driverseat. “We’re proud to support Innisfil Transit in meeting every resident’s individual needs.”

To schedule a WAV with Driverseat, call 705-302-0008 between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, visit Driverseat's website, or download their mobile app. When people arrive on the “book online” page, they will be prompted to create a profile or sign in. Once signed in, residents can select the “Innisfil Transit WAV” service level and enter their trip details. While Driverseat makes every effort to provide same day service, it is recommended that rides are booked in advance by 24 hours.

The partnership with Driverseat builds on the existing Innisfil Transit model, which has included wheelchair accessible rides through Barrie-Innisfil Taxi since 2017. Since both companies service other areas, having multiple options will increase the availability of subsidized accessible trips at any given time. This latest enhancement complements Innisfil Transit’s existing adaptations, including:

  • GoGoGrandparent - A service that allows residents without a smartphone or the ability to request their own Innisfil Transit trip to book a ride through a 24/7 toll-free number or website.
  • Fair Transit Program – The Town’s financial assistance program that helps remove financial barriers to travel. If eligible, members receive 50% off all Innisfil Transit rides and are exempt from the 30-ride cap limit per month.
  • Essential Trips Assistance Program – This program provides fare assistance to Innisfil Transit users in the form of electronic Uber vouchers that gives riders four free trips (or two free return trips) to select locations in Innisfil that include local grocery stores, pharmacies, the Innisfil Food Bank and Rizzardo Health and Wellness Centre.

Residents looking to book an Innisfil Transit trip who do not require a WAV are asked to continue to use the Uber app and select the “Innisfil Transit” option. Find Innisfil Transit rates and more information on using transit safely during the pandemic on the Town website.
