Innisfil, Ontario – To promote the new outdoor fitness obstacle course at Innisfil Beach Park, the Town of Innisfil is offering free “Try It” sessions on November 4 and 7. Led by a trained instructor, these 30-minute sessions will teach participants how to use the equipment safely for an effective, fun and age-appropriate workout.

“We’re excited to offer another unique recreation opportunity at Innisfil Beach Park, adding to the beautiful beaches, new BMX Pump Track, sports fields and more,” said Mayor Lynn Dollin. “I encourage residents to sign up for the free Try It sessions to find a new way to stay active outdoors this season.”

The outdoor fitness obstacle course includes eight obstacles that can be combined with many other bodyweight exercises, including:

  • FitCore™ Extreme A-Frame Cargo Net – challenges users to climb up one side, transition over the top beam and control their way down the net to get to the ground.
  • FitCore™ Extreme High Step – challenges teens and adults to use some fancy footwork to land clearly in each square.
  • FitCore™ Extreme Jump Hang – allows users to use the ramp to launch themselves toward the cargo netting and use upper body and core muscles to navigate through the netting without touching the ground.
  • FitCore™ Extreme Peg Bridge – challenges teens and adults to work their upper body as they swing their way from peg to peg.
  • FitCore™ Extreme Quintuple Steps – challenges users to traverse across five angled platforms by leaping from platform to platform.
  • FitCore™ Extreme Rope Climb – is the updated version of a traditional rope climb.
  • FitCore™ Extreme Spiderwalk – challenges users to traverse the space between the two walls without touching the ground.
  • FitCore™ Extreme Unstable Bridge – challenges users to work their upper body by crossing the rocking suspended planks.

The outdoor fitness equipment is one of the immediate recommendations included in the Innisfil Beach Park Master Plan (IBPMP), approved by Town Council in 2020. Developed through an extensive public engagement process, the IBPMP sets a bold, long-term vision for the revitalization of Innisfil’s largest park. The outdoor fitness equipment provides a new space for people to take part in informal or formal fitness activity at Innisfil Beach Park.
